About Furniture For A Cause
Furniture For A Cause opened it’s doors in March 2004 as an additional source of revenue for the many programs SAMMinistries provides to the homeless and at risk homeless individuals and families of San Antonio. Our 35,000 square foot store sells new and gently used home and office furniture, including accessories, to the general public at a low price with 100% of the net proceeds going to SAMMinistries. Our online ecommerce website has a broader selection of new items and select donated items for sale to both our local market and the continental United States market. Donated items sold on our website are only available for local pickup/delivery at this time.
How Do Furniture Donations Help the Homeless?
Quality furniture donations from individuals and businesses are an essential part of the success of Furniture For A Cause. In addition to reselling your furniture donation at our retail store, Furniture For A Cause also provides furniture for individuals and families that are moving out of our homeless residences and into permanent housing. While we appreciate the consideration of any donation, we kindly refuse furniture that is soiled, badly damaged, non-functioning, or unusable by another consumer. Donations that are unusable by another consumer, incur high transportation, labor, and disposal costs to Furniture For A Cause. By state law we cannot accept used mattresses and/or box springs.

Job Training Program at Furniture For A Cause
Furniture For A Cause also provides a job training program for some of our residents at our shelters. This program provides essential job training and experience that helps individuals gain the necessary tools that they need to become a successful part of today's job market. Many of our graduates of our job training program obtain full time employment after their job training and self sufficiency.
